After weeks of planning and anticipation, my dad, my brother, and I went on a trip to Wisconsin this weekend. While in Wisconsin, we went to Summerfest where we saw my favorite band play, went to a rock store where we bought so many phenomenal materials, and we wandered around my new campus. I couldn’t have thought of a better vacation; it was perfect. All of my personal favorite things were put all together in two days!
Now that I am home, there is so much work to be done. I have tons of new rocks to play with! I am most excited about my new dinosaur bone and Imperial Jasper. Imperial Jasper is one of my favorite rocks. It varies so much, you can find beautiful scenery in it, and it takes a phenomenal polish. As for the dinosaur bone, I have never cut dinosaur bone before. Unfortunately, I have never been able to obtain any before. Until this weekend! We were able to get 1 pound of a beautiful piece and I have already started cabbing it!
I am so lucky that I am able to focus my time on lapidary art. It is the perfect creative outlet, it can absolutely provide a challenge that I love, and I am able to work with my family. However, it is so important to be able to take a break. Not a long one, but this trip has shown me that it can be such a huge benefit to step away for a couple of days. This is because when you come back you are able to look at things from a new perspective. It is like your creative battery is fully charged and ready to go!
Here are some pictures from our adventure!
As you can see, we got a lot of treasures!!
